DODGING A BULLET
Late on a Friday, a client needed expedited shipping services to Japan. We sprang into action, moving the shipment up by a few hours to avoid a delay with customs.
Challenge
At 2 p.m. on a Friday, a client needed urgent courier service from Dresden, Germany to Japan ASAP. Being a weekend, we knew that the availability of customs and the operating hours of the Japanese receiving department would be minimal.
Solution
CNW estimated the departure and arrival time and realized that the package would have to be held over the weekend if we did not pick it up two hours earlier than the client requested. We advised our client to ship a few hours earlier to ensure the package made it through customs just before they closed on Friday night.
Outcome
By bumping up the pickup time by two hours, CNW was able to route the package to Japanese customs before close on Friday night, avoiding an unacceptable 48-hour delay.
